How to Watch LeVar Burton (Finally) Host Jeopardy Without Cable the Week of July 26, 2021

While Jeopardy has seen a series of guest hosts since we lost Alex Trebek last year, one celebrity has been working harder than anyone to fill the shoes of the legendary game show host. This week, LeVar Burton will finally get his chance to stand behind the podium.

Burton is well known for playing Kunta Kinte in the miniseries Roots, his role as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and for hosting Reading Rainbow on PBS. His passion for encouraging reading will be highlighted with his donation to Reading is Fundamental, as part of his hosting role this week.

Jeopardy has seen a number of celebrity guest judges this year, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, and former Today Show host Katie Couric. Burton has been gunning for the role on social media for months, with the support of fans and followers. An online petition for the actor to have a turn as host gained over 250,000 signatures.

“I have been a fan of ‘Jeopardy!’ for all of my life and when this opportunity came by, I could not pass it up,” Burton shared in a video on Jeopardy’s YouTube page.
