How to Watch ‘Hamilton’ on Broadway Without Leaving Your Couch

Earlier this year we reported that Hamilton would be coming to Disney+ this summer. Now, the wait is over and you can stream this cultural phenomenon in the comfort of your own living room. Watch it on Disney+ starting July 3, 2020. The live performance was filmed in June 2016 at the Rodgers Theater on Broadway and features the entire Hamilton cast, including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton.

The filmed version was originally scheduled to premiere in theaters this October but was rerouted to a streaming debut because of complications caused by the current pandemic. The film has a rating of PG-13 for streaming.

“No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of ‘Hamilton’—an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way. In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful,” said Bob Iger, Disney’s executive chairman (and former CEO) in a press release. “We are thrilled to bring this phenomenon to Disney+ on the eve of Independence Day, and we have the brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda and the team behind ‘Hamilton’ to thank for allowing us to do so more than a year before planned.”
