After a yearlong wait due to the pandemic and contractual issues, Fury vs. Wilder III is finally here. The upcoming bout is being billed as Once and For All and will be the final fight in the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder trilogy. Back in February of 2020, Tyson Fury won their second fight in the seventh round by a controversial technical knockout, which crowned him the WBC and The Ring Heavyweight champion.
Their first fight took place in 2018 and ended in a controversial split draw. The purses have grown since then. Former ESPN boxing reporter Dan Rafael reported that in addition to their percentages from the profits of the fight, Wilder was guaranteed to earn $4 million while Fury was set to earn $3 million for their first fight. Later, Rafael reported that both were guaranteed purses of $5 million for their second fight and they were guaranteed over $25 million, in addition to a percentage of the pay-per-view sales. For the final fight in their trilogy, SportingFree has reported that Fury is guaranteed $30 million, whereas Wilder is guaranteed $20 million, with each fighter also getting a share of the pay-per-view sales. The winner of Sunday’s fight will likely face Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk in the future for their next big money match.
Saturday’s lineup will feature 4 fights and will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue has the capacity to hold over 20,000 people to watch all of the action inside of the ring. When to Watch
The main card is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET, on Saturday, October 9. Fury vs. Wilder isn’t expected to take place until 11 p.m. ET but depending on how the undercard turns out, it could be later.
