Have you ever wondered how much cord cutting services are worth? What would it take to buy something like Paramount+, Netflix, and more? Well, if Twitch is any example, they could be worth billions.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about Disney selling Hulu, and many have wondered what it would go for and who would want to buy it. Now thanks to Needham & Company, we are getting some ideas as they report Twitch is currently worth about $45 billion or roughly 4% of Amazon’s total market cap.
Hulu, which is considerably smaller than other streaming services is reportedly worth about $16 million. Larger services like Paramount+ and Disney+ or even Netflix could easily be worth $100 billion or more, some have speculated.
The worth of streaming services will become a major issue in the years to come. Many have suggested that there are more streaming services that the market can support. Some streaming services may shut down, but it is being reported that others will likely merge or be bought out by larger streaming services.
We are already seeing consolidation happening in the world of streaming. Yesterday Discovery+ and HBO Max merged. Showtime and Parmaount+ are merging later this year, and other companies have been consolidating smaller services.
Now the question is more about when not if this great consolidation will happen.
