One of the most common questions we get about Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks is how long they last. Fire TV streaming players and sticks can be some of the most affordable options for streaming, but what is the quality of these TVs?

Over the last ten years, I have owned over 20 different Fire TV devices, including Fire TV Smart TVs for testing and personal use. So how long have they lasted, and what have our readers told us about their Fire TV players?

First, let me explain this new Ask Luke series. We often get the same questions repeated from multiple people. When we see that happen, we will post them here as part of an Ask Luke series. This gives me (Luke) and the Cord Cutters News staff an opportunity to answer common questions for everyone to see.

So How Long Will Fire TV Players and Fire TV Smart TVs Last?

The very first Fire TV streaming player was released in 2014. At the time, it supported one of just a few options for cord cutters to stream their favorite streaming services to their TV. Now almost 10 years later, Amazon’s Fire TV has become the most popular streaming player in the United States.

So how long will these Fire TV devices last? No one wants to buy a TV, no matter how good of a deal it is for it to fail in a year or two.

In our experience, Fire TV Players and Fire TV smart TVs have good lifespans. Of the over 20streaming players I have had, none of them have stopped working. Though Fire TVs do break we have had good luck.

So how common is our experience with how reliable Fire TV Players and Fire TV Smart TVs are? According to our readers, they have all had similar experiences. As always, with electronics, some will fail or get damaged, but it seems Fire TVs has earned its reputation for being a reliable streaming player. Your experience may vary but from what our readers tell us and my own personal experience, I have been very happy with the quality of Fire TV devices.

So far the main issue we see is a handful of complaints about a recent update breaking some Fire TVs leaving them stuck on a home screen. So far this issue seems to be very minor with only a handful of owners reporting it.

As always with all electronics be gentle with them. It is far more likely that you will physically break a remote vs just everyday use breaking your Fire TV.

So if you are looking for a reliable streaming player, you may want to consider a Fire TV.

As always, though, remember people who are unhappy are the ones most likely to post online about their issues.
