First, you must be a Spectrum Internet subscriber. The live TV service is an add-on to its other services. So this greatly limits the number of Americans who can access the service.
Second, you will have to pay taxes and fees. It seems Spectrum is using the same contracts it has for its cable TV service. This means that taxes and fees will need to be paid.
All subscribers to the new Spectrum streaming have access to all of their locals including PBS. The downside is you have to pay an $8 a month broadcast fee. This fee is on top of the $19.95 advertised cost of the service.
As for taxes, they depend on the laws for where you live. That is not an issue with Spectrum but local and state laws.
So the new Spectrum TV streaming service is similar to cable TV in the way it handles its marketing. While there is no long-term contract, you will have to read the fine print closely or face a surprise when your bill comes.
