So here is a quick rundown of what you can expect from the Fire TV Cube.
Control Your TV
With the Fire TV Cube on supported devices you will be able to turn on your TV, adjust the volume, and more just by asking. Amazon says TVs and sound bars from the following companies will be able to be controlled from your Fire TV Cube: Samsung, Sony, LG, Vizio, and more. Plus, tune to live TV channels with cable and satellite boxes from top providers like Comcast, DISH, and DIRECTV/AT&T U-verse—just ask Alexa. (Note: Not all models will be supported. 4K HDR
The Fire TV Cube will support 60 fps 4K HDR.
The Fire TV Cube vs Fire TV 3
The Fire TV 3, also called the Fire TV Pendant, and the new Cube are almost the same device when you look at processor, etc.; however, the Fire TV Cube will offer double the storage space with 16GB of internal storage.
As best we can tell the main difference is the addition of the built-in Echo and IR blaster to control your TV.
Ethernet
The Fire TV Cube does not have a built-in Ethernet jack but does come with an Ethernet adapter included with the Fire TV if you want to hardwire your Fire TV.
Final Thoughts
We still have a lot of questions about the Fire TV Cube. For now, we will need to wait until Thursday to find out if the Fire TV Cube will have any software changes and how the new Fire TV Cube compares when we go head-to-head with the Fire TV 3.
