Here Is Everything We Know About AT&T’s HBO Max

Earlier this month, we shared these key points:

Original Content

We also shared a post summarizing the original content being developed by HBO Max. Since then, we learned that HBO Max is also developing a reboot of the fan favorite series Gossip Girl. WarnerMedia is investing heavily in original content, and we’ll see some major names directing and acting in HBO Max originals.

Live TV, Live Sports, Live News

At the HBO Max event, AT&T confirmed that HBO Max will include live TV, including sports and news, but the live TV side won’t launch until 2021. WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey commented in an interview with CNBC that there would specifically be a CNN livestream available. The streaming service will likely include live sports through a partnership with Bleacher Report Live.

Merging with AT&T TV NOW?

In the interview with CNBC, we also learned that AT&T has plans to eventually merge AT&T TV NOW with HBO Max to create a more substantial streaming service. The service would be a “combined product with a common search and user interface.”

AT&T has commented that AT&T TV NOW is no longer a focus for the company. Recently AT&T TV NOW has been losing subscribers. Blending the streaming service with the premium content that will be available through HBO Max could bring subscriber numbers back up. AT&T has not mentioned AT&T TV NOW’s merger with HBO Max since that CNBC interview.

Bundle Packages with AT&T Wireless

AT&T has announced that new unlimited plans will now include HBO Max. This replaces the bundle deals with AT&T Watch TV for AT&T Unlimited customers.

HBO Max Content

HBO Max will come with a huge catalog of WarnerMedia content and content from other partners. Some of this content includes Sesame Street and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. You will also see a huge collection of content like Friends, Doctor Who, The West Wing, and Rick and Morty.
