Here Are The Roku Players DIRECTV NOW Officially Supports

Earlier this year DIRECTV NOW rolled out an updated Roku Channel for their live TV streaming service. Since that happened some Roku 2 and Roku 3 owners have complained of poor performance. Now DIRECTV NOW has updated their website to list the Roku Players DIRECTV NOW says will “offer the best DIRECTV NOW experience.”

Now other Roku players will work. Both the Roku 2 and Roku 3 still support the DIRECTV NOW Roku Channel. AT&T is just saying that they may not give you the best experience. It is understandable that DIRECTV NOW would drop the Roku 2 and Roku 3 from their official lineup of supported players. Both the Roku 2 and Roku 3 launched back in 2013. (The Roku 2 did get a performance upgrade in 2016 but the Roku 3 still has the same RAM and processor as it did back in 2013.)

Roku is not alone with this issue. DIRECTV NOW has also dropped support for Fire TV models made before 2015 and Apple TV’s made before 2015 have very limited support to newer apps. Yet other apps like Netflix still support streaming players made back in 2011. So if you have an older streaming player they are still very useful for many streaming services.
