The campaign was started on April 22, and as of Friday, April 24 at noon ET, the company has raised over $281,000. That far exceeds the original goal of $50,000. Over 1300 people have backed the campaign, and there are still 28 days to go for others to join in.
Those who pledge $199 or more on the campaign will receive the HDHomeRun 4K device, with an estimated delivery of July 2020. Those who pledge $299 or more will receive the developer firmware with their device. The highest available pledge of $2499, includes a 10 pack of devices for TV industry use.
“This is the year TV stations across the country will begin testing ATSC 3.0 signals, bringing with them higher quality video and audio, all using free Over the Air signals,” the Kickstarter page says. “High resolution 1080p and 4K content with up to 7.1.4 surround sound for anyone with an antenna and the right hardware.”
HDHomeRun can run on the following platforms:
- Windows 10
- Apple Mac
- XBox One
- iPad and iPhone (64-bit models)
- Android phones and tablets with HEVC support
- Android TV devices and Android TV televisions with HEVC support
- FireTV products and FireTV edition televisions with HEVC support
The company notes that some platforms, including Roku and Apple TV are not able to support all ATSC 3.0 features at this time.
