HBO Max Will Launch in Latin America in June 2021 & Discontinue HBO Go

HBO Max is getting its passport ready. The relatively new streaming platform is making its first venture outside the U.S. by launching in 39 territories across Latin American and the Caribbean. The launch will entail an entirely new streaming experience via a new app and feature a new kids catalog as well. The app is set to begin rolling out in June 2021.

The existing HBO GO service in Latin America and the Caribbean will be phased out with subscribers automatically rolled into HBO Max. The new app mirrors the U.S. version with some additional features to optimize the Latin American viewing experience.

“We are thrilled for the launch of HBO Max in Latin America and the Caribbean, which is the first step in bringing WarnerMedia’s Direct-to-Consumer service to consumers outside of the U.S., and around the world,” said Johannes Larcher, Head of HBO Max International. “By combining HBO with the very best of WarnerMedia’s series and film catalog, as well as locally produced content from master-storytellers in Latin America, HBO Max will offer fans in the region an unforgettable and enriching entertainment experience.”

Over the next few months, HBO Max will release a series of promotional offers to the Latin American and Carribbean territories ahead of the official rollout.

HBO-branded streaming services in Europe (the Nordics, Spain, Central Europe, and Portugal) are scheduled to be upgraded to HBO Max later this year.
