HBO MAX is Bringing the Good Vibes With New John Stamos Collab

HBO MAx logoHBO Max has given the green light to Good Vibes Only, a dramedy by John Stamos and the creators of School of Rock, Steve & Jim Armogida, along with Kapitol Entertainment. The show will be set to the classic music of The Beach Boys.

Stamos has long been a fan of The Beach Boys and even performs with them on a regular basis. Some of the band members also appeared on Stamos’ sitcom You Again? as well as a 1988 episode of Full House. Plus, Stamos executive produced a 2000 miniseries based on the boys, and even created a musical based on their music.

Good Vibes Only is a pet project of mine that I’ve been working on for a long time,” Stamos said. “It’s been my mission to introduce a younger generation to the Beach Boys songs. Their music and message is needed now more than ever and this series is a perfect vehicle.”

The storyline for the show follows a group of small-town foster kids who secretly form a band that catapults them to unexpected fame. The title of the show, Good Vibes Only, is undoubtedly inspired by the Beach Boy’s 1966 hit ‘Good Vibrations.’

This new project puts Stamos back working with  HBO Max’s head of comedy Suzanna Makkos once more.

“I’ve also been trying to find something to do with Suzanna Makkos since we did Grandfathered together, and Good Vibes Only is a perfect match,” Stamos added. “Then I took this to Aaron Kaplan because he is truly the best at setting up shows and getting them on the air and I think HBO Max is the perfect platform for our show.”
