This holiday season, Hallmark Channel is bringing a unique blend of football and festive cheer to your screens. In an exciting collaboration, the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL, Skydance Sports, and Hallmark Media have teamed up to produce a new Christmas movie titled Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. The film stars Tyler Hynes, Hunter King, and Ed Begley Jr. and is set to premiere during the 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.
The movie, set to begin production next month, will be filmed entirely in Kansas City, Missouri, with key scenes shot at the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. This marks the first time the stadium, known for being the loudest in the world, will be featured as a filming location in a Hallmark movie.
Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer at Hallmark, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition, and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations. By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions, and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”
Mark Donovan, President of the Kansas City Chiefs, added, “We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this. As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story follows Alana Higman (Hunter King), whose family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them strong contenders for the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (Tyler Hynes), the Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating the finalists, and as he spends time with Alana and her family, sparks fly. However, when Alana’s grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs good luck winter hat goes missing, she starts to question fate, destiny, and her future with Derrick – unless a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.
This film celebrates the longstanding collaboration between Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs, officially uniting the Hallmarkies and Chiefs Kingdom. The partnership will feature game-day activations, unique co-branded merchandise, and extensive on-air, social, and digital promotions. Skydance Sports, a venture between Skydance Media and the NFL, will serve as the executive producer of the movie, adding a top-end sports content studio’s touch to the project.
In celebration of this local partnership, Kansas City’s downtown skyline will be lit purple and red tonight beginning at sunset.
