Half of STARZ Subscribers & One-Third of HBO NOW Subscribers Come from Amazon Channels

This week Daniel Salmon, an analyst for BMO, talked about the huge growth of Amazon Prime Video Channels. These channels let you subscribe directly through Amazon for a growing list of streaming services. This means you can easily manage your subscribers from a single location within Amazon.

According to Salmon, about half of STARZ subscribers and 35% of HBO NOW subscribers come from Amazon Channels. On top of that 37% of Showtime, subscriptions come from Amazon Prime Channels.

This is a huge boon for Amazon because they get a small cut of Amazon Prime Channels subscriptions. They offer a location to manage these subscriptions making it easy for the end users. The channel creator gets the benefit of the exposure from being in the Amazon Channels server.

Other companies are trying to jump into the market. Roku, Sling TV, and others are all working on a service like Amazon Channels. For now, Amazon is the leader in the space and will continue to be so for years to come.
