Hackers Threaten to Post IPTV Subscribers Personal Information

Depressed mature man holding paper and looking at it while sitting on the couch at homeToday the IPTV service Helix Hostings was reportedly hacked. Helix Hosting is an IPTV provider that offers access to popular TV channels for a low price. Now, according to a message posted on their website, they have been hacked and if they don’t pay up the hackers will post resellers and subscribers’ personal information online.

Here is the message posted by the hacker:

Helix Hosting Has Been Hacked – They have had the option to pay a small amount to protect its customers or have all customer details leaked online putting you all at risk.

They have chosen to not accept this offer and would prefer your details to be leaked online.

Unless they pay by 11pm this evening all customers and reseller details will be leaked online, but to make it fair we are going to expose at the least one owner/staff members details including his name address numbers and IP addresses.

TorrentFreak was first to spot this and added that they do not know what time zone the 11 PM deadline is in. So it is possible the deadline has past or it will pass later on today.

With some IPTV services having hundreds of thousands of subscribers, getting access to their databases could become more popular among hackers. The question now is has this happened before and will it happen again?

For now, we will have to wait and see what happens with the Helix Hosting IPTV hack.
