It looks like Google’s long-rumored, previously leaked TV dongle is inching closer to retail reality. 9to5 Google discovered references to the unreleased HDMI dongle in a developer preview for Android 11 for Android TV.

The likely successor to the current Chromecast Ultra pops up in a video describing how to restart the device. The oval-shaped dongle on display clearly resembles previously leaked product renders as opposed to the circular design of the current, and recently discounted Chromecast device.

Its appearance in the Android 11 developer preview suggest it’s possible the new device could launch alongside the operating system’s release later this year. But it’s also plausible the dongle could appear earlier, with the ability to upgrade to the new OS when the software is ready. And for what it’s worth, the developer video suggests restarting the device will be similar to the current Chromecast’s process: Disconnect the power cord, count to 3, reconnect.

Regardless of what OS it ships with at launch, it’s clear Google’s next TV dongle is coming at some point, and will support Android 11 sooner or later.
