Google Will Reportedly Introduce a ‘Nest Wifi’ Device Next Month

google smart devicesGoogle is reportedly planning to launch a Nest Wifi router, a new version of the company’s Google Wifi router, in October.

According to sources for 9 to 5 Google, the new device will be a single hub router, with two beacons that will double as Google Assistant speakers. According to the source, other changes to the device will be design focused. 9 to 5 Google says that Google will offer the device in 3 color options to best fit the design of your home.

The router’s look will be in-line with other Google devices, while mimicking Amazon’s Eero router double beacon design. What Amazon’s Eero is lacking is built-in smart speakers, which the Nest Wifi router will include. These speakers are expected to provide the same performance as first and second generation Google Home Mini and Nest Mini devices. The Nest Wifi network will also reportedly be able to be voice controlled.

Old Google Wifi hardware will be compatible with the new, updated devices.

The report says that Google will announce this new device on October 15th at the Made by Google event.
