If you used Google’s social media network Google+ between January 1, 2015 and April 2, 2019, you may be eligible to receive part of a $7.5 million court ordered payout. Those who are eligible for the payout will receive up to a whopping $12.
Google+ was a social media platform that ran from June 2011 to April 2019. In 2018, Google announced that the platform had experienced bugs that allowed app developers to access and misuse profile information from Google+ users. A lawsuit was filed, alleging that Google+ users were harmed by the privacy breach. Google denies liability and believes that no users were harmed by the bugs that resulted in their information being accessible to the developers.
An email to those who were flagged as potentially being a “Settlement Class Member” says that a hearing will be held on November 19, 2020 in San Jose, CA.
If you believe you were affected by the privacy breach, you can start the process of submitting a claim at https://www.googleplusdatalitigation.com/. Claims must be submitted by October 8, 2020.
