Google WiFi and Nest WiFi Gone From Google Store — is a Router Refresh Coming?

Google’s two older Wi-Fi routers, the Google WiFi and Nest WiFi, have vanished from the tech giant’s online store, according to 9to5Google.

Clicking on the smart home section of the Google Store only brings up the Nest WiFi Pro, a model that first debuted in 2022 alongside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The $199.99 model, brought then-upgrades like WiFi 6E and support for Matter, a standard that bridges multiple smart home devices together. When Google held its event in October, it didn’t make any smart home announcements.

The Google WiFi and Nest WiFi stuck around in the store and were attractive lower end models for people who didn’t need the “Pro” model.

Their disappearance from the store could portend a refresh of the Nest WiFi model, although it’s unclear whether it’ll be a higher end device or not. A leak found by Android Police in November found an icon for a Nest WiFi Pro 2, suggesting something might be coming. 9to5Google in August had found code in the Google Home app that also pointed to a new version of a wireless router, which it thought was a Nest WiFi model.

For now, you can still buy the Nest WiFi and Google WiFi routers on other retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, and Target. But with Google itself discontinuing it, it may just be a matter of time before the other retailers run out of their stock.

A spokesperson for Google confirmed the models were discontinued, but didn’t comment on the prospect of new devices.

“We will continue to offer our highest performance connectivity solution, Nest Wifi Pro with Wi-Fi 6E. Existing Google Wifi and Nest Wifi users won’t see any change in their service,” the company told Cord Cutters News. “We’ll continue to offer critical software updates and security fixes to these devices.”
