Google is releasing a new Gemini update that includes the ability to control your TV with voice commands. TCL announced today that it will be the exclusive launch partner for the new Gemini TV controls. Select TCL TVs will be the exclusive products with the new feature for the first 60 days.
Google first announced the new features at CES in January where they previewed new ways for users to interact with their TVs. That preview included offering users AI searches, the ability to look at and get creative with the user’s photo collection, and adjusting image settings.
Starting today, TCL users with select models can use voice controls to:
- Adjust picture and sound settings, including brightness, contrast, volume, and picture modes
- Fix common audio or picture issues by simply describing the problem, such as “The screen is too dark” or “I can’t hear the dialogue”
- Fine-tune settings based on what they’re watching
- Open settings menus directly without clicking through multiple screens
TCL says that the update will save users time when looking for and navigating to content, just in time for the World Cup.
The feature is only available on compatible TVs and is rolling out now on select 2025 and 2026 TCL Google TV models in the U.S., including the QM9K, QM7L, RM7L, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L.
