Google Just Officially Announced The New 3rd Gen Chromecast

Well, forget our post about Google not announcing the new Chromecast. While Google did not talk about the new Chromecast during their event today they did quietly make a blog post about it and post the Chromecast for sale in their store.

The new Chromecast comes in two colors white and charcoal. The new Chromecast is 15% faster and supports 1080p 60 frames per second. The new Chromecast is still at just $35.

“We launched our first Chromecast in 2013 with the aim to make it easy to get your favorite content right from your phone to your TV. With thousands of compatible apps to cast from, people are tapping the Cast button more than ever. And since Chromecast, the Made by Google family of products has continued to grow, bringing the best of hardware, software and AI together. So for this fifth year of Chromecast, we wanted to share five reasons we’re excited about our newest Chromecast:” Said Jess Bonner the Chromecast Product Manager at Google.

The one new features coming to Chromecast is speaker groups. Later this year you will be able to add your Chromecast to speaker groups so you can stream audio in multiple rooms at the same time.

As best we can tell there are no other new features for the 3rd gen Chromecast 2018 model. You can order it HERE.
