Google is Reportedly Not Teaming up With Dish to Buy Part of T-Mobile

people looking at phonesLast month we learned that DISH was reportedly bidding on buying Boost Mobile. According to Bloomberg DISH was offering $6 billion to buy Boost. According to the NY Post Google and Dish have teamed up in an effort to buy part of T-Mobile. Now Google has come out and denied these reports.

“These claims are simply false. Google is not having any conversations with Dish about creating a wireless network,” a Google spokesman told the NY Post.

It was recently reported that the Department of Justice wants a 4th major phone company if it would approve a T-Mobile Sprint merger. An Amazon run phone service could be that 4th competitor the Department of Justice is looking for. According to reports, the Department of Justice is close to announcing a deal to approve the T-Mobile and Sprint merger. If that is true we may soon also learn about Amazon or DISH buying Boost Mobile.

CNBC first reported that Dish was looking to buy part of T-Mobile. Saldy CNBC did not state what assets are being sold off but it has been reported that Boost Mobile could be apart of that deal once Sprint and T-Mobile merge. This deal is still subject to DOJ approval but reports are an announcement could come as soon as this week.
