Google Fiber is Endorsing Philo As an Affordable Cord Cutting Option

Google Fiber has added Philo as a streaming service recommendation to its customers, joining the ranks with YouTube TV and fuboTV. Recently, the internet provider has been telling Google Fiber customers that Philo is a simple, non-expensive alternative.

We’re continuing to work to make it easier to find the TV and video content you want with more streaming choices available for our internet customers. We’re thrilled to welcome Philo as a new streaming partner. Philo offers over 60 channels of live and on-demand TV for just $20 a month, providing yet another affordable way to watch your favorite shows. Philo joins YouTube TV and fuboTV as one of our streaming offerings, and we’re working to make it even easier to get the streaming options our customers want.

This new partnership comes after Google Fiber discontinued its traditional TV package for customers, opting to start recommending viewers cut the cord with streaming options instead.

“If you’ve been reading the business news lately, you know that more and more people are moving away from traditional methods of viewing television content,” the Google website said. “Customers today want to control what, where, when, and how they get content. They want to do it their way, and we want to help them.” Google went on to say “Whether it’s through YouTube TV, Hulu, Netflix, or more specific targeted services — there are so many ways to watch what you want, when you want it.”

Philo costs just $20 a month for more than $50 channels and comes with a 7-day free trial. You can sign up for it here.
