Google Fi Rebrands as Google Fi Wireless & Offers a More Affordable “Family-Centric” Experience

On April 19th, 2023, Google Fi announced it is rolling out the first wave in a line of changes coming to the mobile carrier with a focus on creating a “family-centric” experience with family-friendly prices.

Rebranded as Google Fi Wireless, it offers an impressively affordable Simply Unlimited plan at only $80 a month up to four lines. Yes, that’s right – you can get a family plan for what most carriers charge per line now (and that’s on the low end).

The Simply Unlimited plan comes with unlimited data, calls, and texts within the U.S., Canada, and Mexico with 5 GB of hotspot tethering. You can also connect compatible smartwatches for no additional charges.

The Unlimited Plus Plan includes coverage abroad as well as 1 year of YouTube Premium, priced at $160 for up to four lines. On the other end of the financial spectrum, Google Fi Wireless offers an economical Flexible plan for customers who only want to pay for the data they use. It’s $65 for up to four lines plus the cost of any data usage, so approximately $17 per line plus $10 per GB.

Each plan is designed with safety in mind and includes:

Curious customers with an eSIM-compatible phone can sign up for a risk-free 7-day trial before committing to switching carriers. You can even bring along your old phone number. According to the announcement, the trial includes “unlimited data, calls, and texts in the U.S., plus hotspot tethering, spam call blocking, and VPN to encrypt your online activity for private online connections.”

New customers and existing ones adding an additional line are eligible for a free phone, although it appears the cost of the phone is added in partial payments over the course of 24 billing cycles.
