It seems that this great, free hosting option has become a way to share movies and music among friends and others. Now that Megaupload is gone some have seen Google Drive as a replacement for that service, and it seems Google is cracking down on this.
Yesterday reported that users who have tried to share pirated content such as movies are receiving warnings that it violates Google Drives Terms of Service.
It appears that Google is taking some of the tools it uses on YouTube to auto scan for movies and TV shows that have copyright claims and is using it on Google Drive.
This is not completely new in the world of cloud-hosting as Dropbox, for example, has used a similar system.
The good news is you are able to request a review if your upload was flagged by mistake.
When asked about these new Google Drive features a Google spokesperson told TorrentFreak, We dont comment on the details of our anti-abuse mechanisms on Drive.
