Google Chromecast is Down World Wide

Do you own a Chromecast or a device with Chromecast built-in? If your Chromecast is not working this morning no worries, it is not you, but Google’s backend servers are down right now.

Right if you try to cast Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc to your Chromecast you will likely find an error, or it just won’t see your Chromecast device in the list. Exactly what is causing the issue is unknown, but all signs point to Google’s back-end server that manages the connection between services like Netflix and your Chromecast player.

This outage seems to also affect devices with built-in Chromecast features like Android TV and select smart TVs. So you may be able to use your Netflix app on a Nvidia Sheild but not be able to cast from your phone to your Nvidia Shield via the built-in Chromecast.

Some limited functions still are still working on the Chromecast, but many of the most popular features are down. Google says they are working on a fix, but no timeline has been given for when it will be back online.

This is breaking news we will update this post as we learn more.
