fuboTV’s Commercials Are Meant to Offend People & Its Paying Off

The world of live TV streaming is becoming increasingly crowded, and fuboTV wants to get their name out there.

To help them stand out, fuboTV recently started an aggressive marketing campaign including TV commercials. And aggressive may be an understatement.

“We knew what we were doing,” said Ian Wishingrad, founder and creative director of the ad agency BigEyedWish in a statement to Business Insider. “If you are trying to not offend, you are going to be just another ad. So you try and walk the line between getting the right amount of chatter while you don’t want to get pulled off the air.”

So far the aggressive ad campaign seems to have paid off. The new fuboTV premiere package and marketing campaign has helped them gain 100,000 active subscribers, which was no minor task, because this spring it was reported that PlayStation Vue had about 400,000 subscribers.

fuboTV is not stopping with an aggressive marketing campaign. They recently added more locals by striking a deal with CBS and adding more FOX affiliates.

fuboTV also raised an additional $55 million in Series C funding from investors this summer. They have not said what they plan to do with that money but part of it is likely going to marketing and new content.
