fuboTV Expected to Bring Back Monthly Subscriptions This Week

Just last week, fuboTV changed its pricing structure by requiring new subscribers to sign up for quarterly plans rather than monthly. The plans started at $194.96 for three months and had to be prepaid.

Now, it looks like fuboTV is bringing back monthly subscriptions after the quick test. Phillip Swann of TV Answer Man, who first shared the news of the quarterly plans, tweeted on Monday that “FuboTV says its quarterly-only plan is expected to end on Thursday.”

When the quarterly plans were introduced, a fuboTV spokesperson confirmed that it was just a test, saying “We have temporarily made our channel packages available to new subscribers as quarterly plans. We’re always experimenting with our channel package offerings to better understand what our subscribers like.”

The short-lived test likely means the experiment didn’t play out the way fubo hoped. The streamer might opt to offer quarterly prepaid plans alongside the normal monthly plans going forward.

The live TV streaming service reached 1.1 million subscribers by the end of 2021, according to preliminary Q4 results shared by the company last month. “fuboTV’s strong preliminary fourth quarter 2021 results close out a pivotal year where we made meaningful advancements against our mission to define a new category of interactive sports and entertainment television,” said David Gandler, co-founder and CEO, fuboTV in that announcement.
