FuboTV Adds a New Chief Technology Officer

Today the live TV streaming service fuboTV announced they have added a new Chief Technology Officer. Geir Magnusson Jr is a former AppNexus veteran and will take over as Chief Technology Officer for fuboTV.

“We are delighted to welcome aboard Geir,” said Gandler. “He has a strong track record of scaling complex global platforms and a proven ability to guide transformation at leading tech companies.” Gandler continued: “Although only three years old, fuboTV is an industry leader in delivering new and innovative live video technology and features to the virtual Pay TV space. We believe Geir’s expertise and passion for innovation will ensure we maintain our leadership position as we deliver to consumers a next generation live OTT experience.”

Prior to fuboTV, Magnusson co-founded Sourcepoint Technologies in 2015 and was its chief technology officer until 2017. He previously spent two years at AppNexus, most recently as chief technology officer.

Recently fuboTV announced that they now have 300 live local broadcast stations more than DIRECTV NOW, PlayStation Vue, and Sling TV. Right now that would put fuboTV in a tight race with YouTube TV for second place in the race for live TV locals. Currently, Hulu leads with over 400 live local TV stations.
