Fubo Will Raise It’s Price Next Month

Today, Fubo said it will raise prices for its streaming service next month after adding a no-opt-out “option” for Bally Sports.

Starting February 1, the basic packages will increase by $5 a month, and regional sports fees will see a hike of $1 a month .The streamer said the decision was based on the “growing package of sports, news, and entertainment programming” it offers.

In 2023, Fubo launched 70 new channels, including ten new radio stations, to its base package. The company plans to add more this year and will update its DVR to record unlimited hours of content at no additional cost. The new no-limit DVR will roll out in the next couple of months, according to a statement sent to Cord Cutters News.

“We strive to provide the best programming at the best value,” said Fubo. “However, from time to time, our programming partners raise the prices they charge us, and unfortunately, we are forced to pass some of that increase onto our customers.”

This marks another price change the streamer has announced in the past year.

In October, Fubo dropped the price of its Premier package to $95, down $5 a month for 244 channels. Some predicted a price hike was heading to the platform this year, and they were right.

The company said the price increase is due to increased value to sports fans, but with the no opt-out addition of Bally Sports, some fans might prefer to stray from the streaming platform if their teams are hosted elsewhere. Bally Sports’s parent company, Diamond Sports, faces several lawsuits, such as a carriage fee dispute over Major League Baseball filed with DIRECTV scheduled for January 24 and ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, and has lost several court cases.

Fubo is a live streaming platform simular to YouTube TV and Hulu+ Live. The platform has 1.1 million subscribers as of the summer of 2023. It is available on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google TV.
