The Walt Disney Company announced today it’s bringing Frozen 2 to its Disney+ streaming service in the US this weekend, a full three months ahead of its intended home release date.

“‘Frozen 2’ has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device,” Bob Chapek, Disney CEO, said in a press release.

The movie will be available initially at 1080P, but the company expects to release a 4K release on March 17th. The film should be available to Disney+ customers in Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand on the 17th as well.

Frozen 2 was initially set to debut on Disney’s streaming service later this year, but entertainment companies are continuing to adjust their plans as the current coronavirus outbreak causes significant lifestyle changes for millions. The company calls it a surprise for families during a challenging period.
