FOX RSN Network Games May Be Coming to Sinclair’s Free Streaming Service STIRR

Today Disney held its 1st Quarter 2019 earnings call and was joined by Sinclair who will soon own the FOX Regional Sports Network. During that call, it was announced that Sinclair is looking at bringing some FOX RSN games and content to its free streaming service STIRR.

When asked about FOX RSN and STIRR Sinclair said: “We very well might populate games as well, but that’s to be determined,” said Sinclair CEO Chris Ripleyl. Now, this is not likely to be all FOX RSN games and content. Sinclair likely still wants to keep as much of FOX RSN content behind a paywall of streaming services and cable TV to help earn back the $10 billion it just spent on the networks. Yet it could be that we may start seeing some of the less popular sports or maybe an MLB game of the week streaming for free on STIRR.

STIRR gives access to on-demand and live linear networks including Comet and Charge for free with ads. Now it looks like Sinclair wants to expand its sports on STIRR using some of its FOX RSN.
