Fox Is Bidding For Thursday Night NFL Football Rights

The imaginary stadium is modelled and rendered.Recently Fox decided news and sports would be their main focus going forward. Now Fox is trying to expand their sports lineup by buying rights to Thursday Night NFL Football games in 2018.

This comes from a report at USA Today Sports, who talked with sources knowledgeable about the bidding process.

This means that the big four networks—ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC—are all bidding for Thursday Night NFL Football this year. According to reports, broadcast networks such as Fox see live events like sports as a safer market in the face of cord cutting. With on-demand content becoming easier to find, live news and events are becoming a safe haven for ad sales.

Over the last two years CBS and NBC spent over $900 million on rights for Thursday Night NFL Football. Last year Amazon spent $50 million for streaming rights, and it is reported that once again the NFL is bidding out the streaming rights to Thursday Night Football.

Even with NFL numbers down, ad revenue has still been strong for the networks who own the rights to NFL football.
