Former Disney & Discovery Execs Will Launch New Service, Struum, This Spring

A new streaming subscription service is launching this year with the goal of helping users easily uncover more content. Struum is a subscription-based service that acts as a gateway to discover a wide variety of content in the OTT market. It’s set to launch sometime in Spring 2021.

With major services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and more dominating the streaming space, Struum aims to act as a “Class Pass” model to help users discover the 250+ mass niche and specialty SVOD services out there. Struum was created by former senior-level Disney+ and Discovery executives and backed by Disney CEO Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company.

“With so much proliferation in the niche and specialty streaming landscape, there is a clear need for a resource that helps them seamlessly discover and consume content from these services,” Michael Eisner said. “This is truly a first-class team that is leveraging their wide breadth of experiences and relationships to create a solution unmatched by anything else currently available that will benefit both viewers and streaming services.”

Struum has already landed deals with multiple services and will launch with more than 20,000 TV series, movies and shorts. The service will allow users to discover a hugely diverse range of content including feature films, lifestyle and reality shows, live-action TV series, foreign language shows and series, and programs geared toward underserved audiences such including the LGBTQ and Latinx communities.

“Our mission is simple: to create the easiest way for people to find more of the content they love by providing value through a single subscription. As the OTT space continues to expand, there is an incredible amount of amazing video content options for TV and Movie streaming fans, but it can be overwhelming and expensive for the average viewer to delve into these options outside the biggest players in the market.  With our platform, we will help viewers uncover new content and platforms, but also provide all SVOD services with the opportunity to be more easily, and frequently discovered by fans,” said company CEO Lauren DeVillier.

“With the top-notch content and technology partners, and a team of industry experts we are able to tap into, including Michael Eisner and The Tornante Company, our goal is to create a best-in-class aggregation solution for consumers,” said Struum CBO Paul Pastor.

More details on Struum’s launch date and specific SVOD partner services will be unveiled in the coming months.
