FitzyTV’s Apps Have Been Suspended By Google & Amazon Over a ‘Legal Dispute’

Do you use the FitzyTV app to DVR your streamed content? You may have noticed that the app is no longer available on the Amazon App Store of the Goole Play Store. Cord Cutters News reached out to FitzyTV for comment, and they responded, saying that the app was suspended on Amazon and Google due to a “legal dispute” with Adobe.

Here is the statement FitzyTV sent to Cord Cutters News:

To our loyal users,

When a user pays for TV channels, they should be able to watch those channels in the way that’s most convenient for them. That’s what FitzyTV set out to deliver: a convenient, user-friendly platform to give our users the freedom to watch their paid TV subscriptions where they want, when they want.

Unfortunately, our apps were recently suspended from Google and Amazon’s app stores — a result, we believe, of an ongoing legal dispute with Adobe, which powers the authentication system for all US cable/satellite operators. While we have repeatedly attempted to work with Adobe to resolve the dispute, those attempts have thus far been unsuccessful.

In the Silicon Valley-spirit of innovation, we still hold hope that Adobe will come to see things our way: that the best way to fulfill the promise of TV Everywhere is to give users the best possible experience for their TV subscriptions. We will update you as things progress.

Sincerely,
The FitzyTV Team

The service recently became popular with cord cutters as it let you DVR programs from streaming services you paid for even if that service didn’t offer a DVR. For now, it seems that if you already have the app, you can continue to use it. If you don’t already have the app, you are out of luck.

For now, we will have to wait and see what happens with the legal battle between FitzyTV and Adobe who manages the logins for many of these services. Cord Cutters News will post updates as we learn more.
