It has been announced that this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be live-streamed for the very first time on YouTube.

This comes from a deal between NBCUniversal, the parade, and Verizon, who will sponsor the stream on YouTube.

“We’ve never really focused on an alternate viewing experience,” said Alison Tarrant, executive vice president of client partnerships at NBCUniversal, in an interview with Variety. “This is a big step for this broadcast.” The live stream will be available on Verizon’s YouTube page, http://www.youtube.com/verizon.

NBCUniversal will promote the digital stream in live mentions on several of its programs, through social-media posts, and with ads that appear on the company’s various TV networks.

So if you struggle to find the parade free over the air you will now be able to stream it for free online through YouTube.

Hopefully the stream will be a success and encourage other live events to join in on the live-streaming option.

You can also follow our social media on Twitter and Facebook as we will be posting deals all day.
