First Responders Network Launches as a Free Streaming Channel

Cineverse Corp. on Friday launched the First Responders Network, a channel dedicated to showcasing police officers, firefighters and emergency medical services.

FRN is a free ad-supported channel on the Cineverse streaming platform.

The channel is just the latest so-called FAST, or free-ad supported streaming TV, offering that has come out in recent months. It joins a myriad of channels, from Kids TV to Korean-focused BINGE Korea, that have launched on a growing number of platforms. These platforms, which include Pluto and Roku Channel, have grown more popular as the price for cable and subscription streaming services continue to rise.

“FRN’s programming resonates deeply with us,” said Marc Rashba, executive vice president of partnerships at Cineverse. “This partnership reflects our commitment to presenting impactful content that not only entertains but also pays tribute to the valor and selflessness of those who safeguard our communities. We’re confident that adding FRN to Cineverse will enhance the reach and resonance of these narratives while delivering value to both advertisers and viewers.”

The news comes after Cineverse reported a first-quarter net loss and said it had been cutting underperforming channels.
