The new whole-home entertainment licensing program will enable manufacturers to build soundbars and smart speakers, surround sound, and multiroom audio systems that use Roku Connect software to work together as a home entertainment network. This frees the manufacturers of the expensive development and maintenance that comes with the software side of hardware.
Yesterday Cord Cutters News got a first look at this new Roku Assistant during the TCL Press Conference with special guest Anthony Wood, Roku’s CEO.

We learned a few things about the new Voice Assistant during the TCL press conference: TCL said that by fall 2018 the Roku Assistant will be rolling out to select Roku TV models.
The new Roku built-in voice remotes will work with the new Roku Voice Assistant.
The new Roku Voice Assistant will work without a remote and respond to voice commands such as “Hey Roku” to activate through Roku Connect devices like the TCL smart speakers with Roku Connect.
