Firefox Comes to The Fire TV

Recently Amazon added their Silk Browser to the Fire TV now Firefox is joining the effort. Now you will be able to pick between the Amazon Silk Browser and the Firefox browser for your Fire TV.

Here is how Firefox describes their new Fire TV app:

Watch videos from YouTube and other popular sites — or search the entire web — with Firefox for Fire TV. Use your Fire TV remote or app to play, pause, fast forward and rewind. The Firefox for Fire TV home screen even includes quick access to YouTube, other video sites and some of the web’s best content and ideas. Firefox for Fire TV is made by Mozilla, the non-profit champions of a healthy internet.
  • Easily watch videos from YouTube and other popular sites
  • Go to YouTube and other sites directly from the Firefox for Fire TV home screen
  • Navigate using your Amazon Fire TV remote or app
  • Search and browse the web directly from your Fire TV

Now that Google has announced plans to pull their YouTube app from the Fire TV a web browser on the Fire TV is more important than ever. Now you will be able to view YouTube in your choice of browsers without the need for a YouTube app. Yet the experience may not be as polished as it would be with a dedicated app.

You can add the Firefox browser to your Fire TV HERE.
