Amazon AI Art feature on Fire TV

Amazon’s latest artificial intelligence feature, AI Art, is now available in public preview on some Fire TVs.

AI Art, powered by Titan Image Generator, lets Fire TV Stick 4K Max (second generation) or Fire TV Omni QLED Series users create images with the Fire TV Ambient Experience by giving Alexa an “imagination-driven prompt,” like a medieval castle on Mars, according to Amazon.

The program will make four different images based on your prompt, and you can further customize their creation by selecting different art styles like oil painting, watercolor, pencil, and more.

Once you’re satisfied with the image, you can set it as your Fire TV background and save it to your Amazon Photos account.

Here’s a look at the interface you’ll see while using AI Art:

This comes after AI exploded in popularity last year after OpenAI’s Chat GPT tool went mainstream. Since then, companies have been racing to incorporate the technology into various products and services while largely ignoring warnings from experts.

As a result, ramifications of unregulated AI usage are already being felt in the art, music, and publishing industries. Some artists have started fighting back against generative AI with “data poisoning” software like Nightshade and Glaze. There have also been a number of lawsuits filed as everyone deals with who owns the rights to both AI work, especially if it draws upon other copywritten material.

The U.S. Copyright Office declined copyright protections to multiple AI-generated images, and multiple district courts ruled in specific cases that the lack of “human authorship” disqualified the creations from copyright protections.

In the case of the Titan Image Generator, Amazon said the system is trained from a variety of sources, including licensed data, open-source datasets, and publicly available data where appropriate.
