Finding The Best Streaming Box For You

roku-3I am often asked what device I use and what device I would recommend. There are a lot of devices on the market and a lot of reasons to buy each. So let’s take a look at why you may want each of the best devices on the market today.

Roku

The Roku is by far the easiest device to use, especially if you are just looking to use Netflix, Hulu, etc. The quick buttons on the remote and the addition of voice search makes the Roku one of the best options for a house with a non-technical person in it.

The Roku also has the largest selection of apps. In the options of where to buy or rent your content from the Roku has Amazon, Google Play, Vodu, MGo, and many more. There are hundreds of great apps to explore on the Roku and many of them are free.

Fire TV

I love the Fire TV for how powerful it is, and the fact that I can use it in hotels when I travel. (I travel a lot.) Amazon’s recent update allowing you to use it with hotel Wi-Fi makes this the must-have device for travelers.

The Fire TV is also loaded with many great apps and is currently the only streaming box to have an official Fox Sports app to watch Fox Sports with a cable login. It does not have the same number of great apps as the Roku but boasts its own lineup of exclusive apps.

Chromecast

The Chromecast is the best device for anyone who wants to cast their screen or watch YouTube. It is cheap and stable yet does a lot. While it cannot hold up to all the content available on Roku or Fire TV it does a great job of being one of the best ways to watch YouTube and cast your screen.

Apple TV

The Apple TV may be the oldest box on the market, but it is still a great option for anyone who uses iTunes for their content. If you have spent a lot of money on content through iTunes the Apple TV is the best way to get that on your TV.

While it does lack Amazon Instant and does not have an app store, you are still able to access a wide range of apps like Netflix.

Conclusion

So, the best streaming device for you depends on how you like to cut the cord. The big question is not what my favorite device is but rather what is the best device for you?
