Films With Dolby Vision Support Starting to Appear on Google Play Movies

Movies supporting the Dolby Vision flavor of the High-Dynamic Range (HDR) format are starting to appear on the Google Play Movies marketplace. FlatpanelsHD reported discovering a pair of movies — Joker and A Simple Favor — that offer the option so far. The online storefront offers several movies in HDR formats, including Marvel Studios movies and Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. But this appears to be the first occurrence of movies specifically sporting Dolby Vision badges.

Earlier this week, we reported on HDR support coming to the CBS All Access app on Android TV, so it looks to be a popular time to add the feature to more platforms.

Of course, rumors continue to swirl about a possible Android TV-powered Chromecast in the near future, but we haven’t heard any official from Google just yet. As always, we’ll continue to keep an eye on Google and keep you posted.
