Fandango made the official announcement today that it has unified its consumer entertainment experiences under the Fandango brand, after recently changing the name of its streaming service to Fandango from Fandango at Home. Fandango is now the only entertainment brand to bring together free streaming, movie ticketing, and premium rentals and purchase under one umbrella.
Fandango’s rebranded platform now allows for guest viewing, allowing users to watch content for free without creating an account or logging in. There’s also a new “Watch Now” feature to start watching with a single click. The updates will be rolling out across mobile, web, and connected TV platforms and are designed to make it easier and more convenient to find and watch free shows and movies.
In addition to the rebrand, Fandango shared today that it has expanded its on-demand content by 20%. The service now offers over 3,500 hours of programming from the Versant content library and live sports coverage featuring the Bundesliga, Germany’s top domestic soccer league, through USA Sports’ new long-term media rights agreement to present exclusive English-language coverage of the league in the U.S.
“As consumers navigate an increasingly fragmented streaming landscape, we see a tremendous opportunity to make entertainment simpler, more accessible and truly free,” said Will McIntosh, President, Digital Platforms & Ventures, Versant. “This expansion of our AVOD streaming offering – and bringing it together under the Fandango brand – is an important step in building a more connected entertainment experience for fans. Fandango is becoming the destination for every stage of the entertainment journey, from discovering what’s playing in theaters, to renting or buying a favorite film at home, or streaming great movies and series for free, audiences can now turn to one trusted destination.”
“The expansion of Fandango’s free streaming library showcases the incredible breadth of our programming strategy, bringing together the best of Versant’s entertainment portfolio alongside a thoughtfully curated slate of popular films and television series,” said Val Boreland, President, Entertainment, Versant. “By making thousands of hours of compelling content available for free, Fandango continues to strengthen its position as a premier destination for entertainment. We’re excited to extend the reach of our content, introduce viewers to new favorites and create even more value for audiences.”
