Facebook is Launching FREE News Shows From ABC, CNN, Fox News, & More

Today Facebook announced a new deal to create exclusive news programs on Facebook with ABC, CNN, Fox News, and other media groups. These new shows will only stream on Facebook and are part of Facebook efforts to promote “quality” news over click bait and other low-quality news.

These new shows will include CNN’s “Anderson Cooper Full Circle” will be hosted by Anderson Cooper, Fox News’s “Fox News Update”  hosted by Shepard Smith. ABC’s “On Location” will feature ABC News journalists and will go live during major breaking news events. Univision will also have a daily news brief and a show hosted by Jorge Ramos.

It is reported that Facebook is paying seven figures to some news organizations to finance a year’s worth of programming a source told CNN.

Recently Facebook announced that they are shutting down their trending news section and it is reported that this is what will be replacing it. The question now is what does this mean for smaller newsgroups who do not have a partnership with Facebook.

The question now is will smaller local newspapers, TV stations, and other news sites be impacted by these new deals Facebook is striking with major news networks.
