Facebook is Launching an Amazon Channels Style Subscription Service

TV RemoteFor over a year, we have heard that Facebook was working on an Amazon Channels style subscription service. Today, Facebook made it official as they start testing a subscription service to allow you to manage subscriptions to services like BritBox, MotorTrend OnDemand, and Collegehumor, to name a few.

“We’re testing video subscriptions on Facebook, starting with a limited set of partners,” Facebook said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring more of people’s favorite shows and videos to Facebook, where subscribers can enjoy the content together with other fans. We’ll be listening to feedback from our community.”

Just like with Amazon channels, the benefit here is being able to manage multiple subscriptions in a single place. No longer do you need multiple apps. You will be able to subscribe to all of them through Facebook.

Facebook is not alone in this push. Amazon, Roku, Apple, Sling, and more are all offering similar services. Amazon was one of the first and now offers over 150 services you can subscribe to, including HBO, CBS All Access, Showtime, and Starz to name a few. For now, Facebook is testing the waters with this new service and has a long way to go to catch up to its competitors in terms of the number of services offered.

Would you use Facebook to manage your subscriptions? Do you use one of the other options out there like Amazon Channels? Leave us a comment and let us know.
