This week Apple announced tvOS 18 beta that will bring multiple new features to the Apple TV.
“We design our Home products to elevate users’ everyday lives, and our latest updates reinforce that goal by delivering even more convenience and connection,” said Stan Ng, Apple’s vice president of Apple Watch, Audio, Health, and Home Product Marketing. “This fall, tvOS 18 and our services take entertainment in the home to the next level by bringing timely information to fans about their favorite characters and scenes.”
So, what is new? Here is everything you need to know about tvOS 18:
#1 Enhanced Dialogue
With Enhanced Dialogue your Apple TV can deliver greater vocal clarity over background noises—a feature Roku owners have had for some time on Roku TVs. This option will quiet background noise helping you better understand what is being said.
#2 21:9 Support
Do you have a projector? If you attach your Apple TV to it, you can get a true widescreen mode to enjoy your movies just like you are in a movie theatre.
#3 Live Captions
Now in English in the US and Canada, users can read what is being said on FaceTime calls on your big screen using an Apple TV. A great option for those who are hard of hearing to still understand the conversation.
When will tvOS 18 roll out?
Apple says look for the developer betas available now and a full rollout of tvOS 18 this fall.
