Everything We Know about Peacock: Launch Date, Pricing, Content & More

With the launch of NBCUniversal’s streaming service just a day away, there have been some questions about what the service will look like, how much it will cost, and how viewers will be able to watch. Here’s what we know about Peacock.

When Will Peacock Launch?

Peacock will be available nationwide on Wednesday, July 15. Comcast customers with Xfinity X1 or Flex have had early access to the app since April 15.

How Much Will Peacock Cost?

Peacock will offer three tiers: free, premium with ads, and premium without ads.

Peacock Free: The free version of the service will have limited content, coming in at 7,500 hours of TV shows and movies. For shows currently airing, new episodes will be added to the free tier a day after they’re added to the paid tiers. This tier will also be ad-supported.

Peacock Premium With Ads ($4.99/month): This tier will give users access to the entire content catalog from Peacock. At launch, the paid tiers will have around 15,000 hours of content available. Those with Peacock Premium subscriptions will have early access to NBC late night shows Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show.

Peacock Premium Without Ads ($9.99/month): Subscribers can upgrade to the ad-free version of the service for an additional $5 per month.

Peacock is also available for pre-order at $29.99/year, saving you 40% on your first year.

Which Devices Will Be Supported?

Peacock has announced that the service will be available on the following devices:

(* Available the week of July 20th)

There are no deals in place with Roku or Amazon. While there’s some chance that those deals will be made before the service launches, it’s not likely that those using Roku or Amazon Fire devices will be able to access the service at launch.

Peacock Originals Available At Launch

NBCUniversal has announced a lineup of original content that will be on the platform at launch.

Complete Series, Reboots, Movies, Live TV & More

Prior to the launch of Peacock for Comcast customers, we got a full list of the content lineup for Peacock. Here are some of the highlights.

Late Night TV will come early for subscribers, beginning at 8 p.m. ET with “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” followed by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” at 9 p.m. ET.

The Future of Peacock

NBCUniversal believes that by the end of 2024, they will have 30-35 million active accounts, bringing in $6-7 per user, with $2.5 billion in revenue, and will break even. Beyond that, the company expects profitability as they continue to expand.
