In a bold step toward redefining how sports fans consume their favorite content, ESPN has announced the launch of its highly anticipated direct-to-consumer streaming service, ESPN Unlimited, slated to debut on Thursday, August 21, 2025. This new platform promises to deliver the full breadth of ESPN’s sports programming through a revamped ESPN App, offering fans unprecedented access to live events, on-demand replays, and exclusive content for a subscription price of $29.99 per month. The launch, timed to coincide with the start of the college football and NFL seasons, marks a pivotal moment for the sports media giant as it embraces the streaming era.
With this news ESPN announced it will also be adding more WWE events. With this Sen will become the new home of premium live events for the WWE including WrestleMania in 2026.
The ESPN Unlimited plan will provide subscribers with access to all of ESPN’s linear networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network (SECN), ACC Network (ACCN), ESPNEWS, and ESPN Deportes, as well as programming from ESPN on ABC. Additionally, the service incorporates ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX, offering a comprehensive package that covers an estimated 47,000 live events annually. From NFL and NBA games to college sports, UFC, WWE, and international soccer, ESPN Unlimited aims to be the ultimate sports destination, complete with on-demand replays, studio shows, and original programming.
The enhanced ESPN App, available on mobile and connected TV devices, will serve as the central hub for ESPN Unlimited. At launch, the app will introduce new features, including personalized content recommendations, enhanced betting integration with ESPN Bet, and advanced statistical analysis tools. Fans can also expect a tailored “SportsCenter” experience, making it easier to follow their favorite teams and sports. For those already subscribed to ESPN through traditional cable or satellite providers, the new app features will be accessible without additional cost, ensuring a seamless transition for existing users.
To sweeten the deal, ESPN is offering bundling options with Disney+ and Hulu. The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Unlimited bundle will be priced at $35.99 per month (with ads) or $44.99 per month (ad-free on Disney+ and Hulu, though some live ESPN content may include ads). A special launch offer reduces the ad-supported bundle to $29.99 per month for the first 12 months, providing significant value for sports and entertainment enthusiasts. Additionally, a more affordable ESPN Select plan, essentially a rebranded ESPN+, will be available for $11.99 per month, offering access to over 32,000 live events annually but excluding ESPN’s linear networks.
The launch of ESPN Unlimited comes at a strategic time, aligning with major sporting events like the U.S. Open tennis, women’s college soccer, volleyball, and field hockey, with the WNBA playoffs and NBA and NHL seasons on the horizon. The service replaces the previously planned Venu Sports joint venture with Fox and Warner Bros., positioning ESPN to capture the growing number of cord-cutters—estimated at 60 million households—seeking flexible streaming options.
As ESPN continues to secure major sports rights deals, including partnerships with the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and more, ESPN Unlimited is poised to become a must-have for sports fans. With its robust content library, innovative app features, and competitive pricing, ESPN is ready to lead the charge in the evolving landscape of sports streaming.
