ESPN Will Air 12 Hours of Esports on April 5th

ESPN-logoIn the absence of live sports, many sports broadcasters and leagues have turned to esports to keep their fans engaged and it appears ESPN is looking to kick that up a notch. The sports broadcaster has announced ESPN Esports Day, a 12-hour marathon focused on various video game competitions, including traditional sports sims and more, shall we say, fantastical options, like Rocket League and Apex Legends.

The programming block kicks off on ESPN2 at noon ET on April 5th, with a series of competitions based on Madden NFL 20. Later in the day, Formula 1 racers will compete in the second installment of the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix. The marathon will also incorporate the previously announced NBA 2K Players Tournament, which features 16 current NBA stars competing in 2K Sports’ NBA 2K20.

Beyond the traditional sports titles, esports fans can also check out the Rocket League Season 8 World Championship. For those unfamiliar with the game, players control cars and other vehicles in a soccer-like match.

Here’s the full schedule from the network and all shows will air on ESPN2:

All times Eastern

You can watch ESPN2 live on Sling TV, Hulu, AT&T TV NOW, YouTube TV, and Vidgo.
