ESPN Plus Has Its First Original Show

For over a year we have known that Disney was working on a streaming service for ESPN. The service will be called ESPN Plus, and now we know the first original show that they will offer.

Yesterday Variety broke a story to confirm that ESPN Plus will have an original show produced by Kobe Bryant focusing on NBA rookies.

We also recently learned from Disney CEO Bob Iger that the ESPN Plus streaming service will be $4.99 a month at launch, but he hinted that as top-tier sports are added to the service new pricing tiers may be added.

Most interestingly he said that the ESPN Plus app will allow subscribers to add team, season, or even passes to their favorite Major League Baseball and National Hockey League out-of-market packages.

Will this be limited to teams ESPN owns rights to from their deal to buy Fox Regional Sports Networks or will this be an opportunity to buy the MLB.TV service through the ESPN Plus app allowing you to manage the billing in a single place? Iger did not answer that question, so for now we will have to wait and see what Disney does next.
